On Location

•August 15, 2008 • No Comments

That crowd of eight people running around downtown last Monday night?  That would be us, on location, shooting a little fashion.  Our model Jordana was an absolute pleasure to shoot and, well, gorgeous too as you can see.

Behind the scenes…  I have no idea what we’re doing here, but it doesn’t look like much, and we’re busted for doing it.  Or not doing it.  (I used to be a lot taller too)

Jess and I.  I guess great minds do think alike…

We had a fabulous Kimberly Nicole boutique collection of clothing to choose from.  Kimberly N. Woods of Kimberly Nicole’s boutique provided all the clothing and fashion consulting for the shoot.  Thank you Kimberly!

Lacy Tucker was the hair stylist, and Kristena Hays was the makeup artist.  Great job you guys!

Sort of out in the middle of Tehama Street with no regard for life and limb.  Hey, whatever it takes to get the shot right?

Judson Hanna the super photojournalist.  Yeah, he was out in the middle of the street too.  Great job Judson!!!

This was like a 50 MPH train passing through town.  Can you imagine the nerve of that guy?  Actually, this was the highlight of the afternoon.  200 decibles, 50 MPH wind, three shutters clicking, and a model living it up.  Just wow!

Jordana really lit up for us every single time.  Even after six clothing changes.  Naturally and unbelievably.

Redding’s Art Hop Aug 2008

•August 14, 2008 • No Comments

Jessica and I finally got around to attending Redding’s second Saturday Art Hop.  There were 25 different businesses displaying various forms of art and each had refreshments to anyone who stopped by for a look.  We downloaded our map of all the participating businesses at Enjoy Magazine.

We found this fur stole in the Discovery Shop and took it home.

Posh-Mama’s!  Seriously…posh.  Here Jessica talks with owner Kendra Schubert about a really fun pair of “saylor” style jeans.  Now we just need the boat.

Now… where’s my credit card?

Public painting on Market street across the street from old City Hall.

They really start em’ out young these days…

We met Joshua from Ability, this great little clothing store is on Tehama Street.  We’re looking forward to meeting your wife!

VIVA downtown!

Visiting with Michael Sauer at Graphic Emporium, great guy, great photographer!

Eric Marshall, a little banged up, but showing some of his stunning photography.

Redding Fashion

My dear wife agreed once again to a street shoot.  I love the cool evenings, empty streets, and interesting lighting that’s available during night-time photo shoots.  We get a lot of interesting looks from the Redding Police Department, but so far we haven’t been hauled in for anything, not even jay-walking.

Redding Mall Roof Removal

•August 7, 2008 • No Comments

Jim of J.B. Excavating and Mike of Precision Builders have been working nights in Downtown Redding removing the old Mall roof constructed in 1972.  Yes, the 70’s-looking stained glass light towers will remain and be lit from inside.  Groovy baby!

It really is going to be sweet when it’s completed, and someday it’ll be a great place for Reddingites to go see and be seen.  How awesome to finally have these three city blocks permanently opened up to pedestrian traffic 24/7.  I can’t wait to have our downtown back!

National Night Out 2008

•August 6, 2008 • No Comments

We were just passin’ through town and stumbled upon this group enjoying the Cars movie on a wall in the center of Downtown Redding.  Need2speed sponsored this free outdoor movie on National Night Out, and who better to have around to take a bite out of crime?  The Crime Dog of course!

This evening’s clouds provided one of the most incredible sunsets I’ve ever seen.  During the short time we drove north on Hilltop and then south on north market street to downtown, we saw dozens of people stop on the side of the road to enjoy it.  We captured the last few moments of it looking north on Market Street.

DWTS Cast Party

•August 5, 2008 • No Comments

Last night we attended the Dancing With The Stars cast party at Maggie and Ray John’s beautiful home in west Redding.  Most of the Stars were there and most of the exhibition dancers, MC’s and judges were there as well.  It was great to see everyone and to reminisce about the evening STRESS FREE over fabulous wine and food choices.  Thank you Maggie and Ray for having us to your home!

Here are a few shots of our new friends who helped raise over $25,000 for the YMCA and the Shasta County Women’s Refuge.  Everyone was a star that night and all who participated received a DVD of the show. SWEET!

I can’t wait until next year (I’ll be in the audience)!

Rodriguez Wedding

•July 26, 2008 • No Comments

Yesterday we had the pleasure of photographing Tim and Deleah while they exchanged their wedding vows, and what a pleasure it was!  We started with the girls getting ready and ended when the reception winded down, time just flew by.

Deleah had a lot of good help, but this garter wouldn’t last long.

An incredible dress for an incredibly beautiful bride.

What a beautiful and intimate setting the rear deck of the Redding Rancheria turned out to be.  And with a really great second floor reception area, Win River proves to be a beautiful wedding venue.

The kiss

Tim and Daleah were great to photograph and really warmed up to the camera.  Thank you both.  People like you make our work fun, interesting, and easy.  We can’t wait to show you the slide show.

Just WOW!

Their two beautiful sons!

The wedding party was just a blast to shoot.  It was a LITTLE on the warm side and quite humid located so near the creek.  These couple of shots during the formal session show just how fun this group was, even while working up a sweat.

Jessica said that the girls won, but I’m sure it was the guys.

Gorgeous!

Maybe a little too much energy here…(but they DID just win the tug-of-war).

Here are the guys cooling their heels just before the ceremony while playing a little poker.

Thank you Tim and Daleah.  We look forward to showing you the story we captured of your day.

Midnight Fashion Shoot

•July 22, 2008 • No Comments

Starved for a little fashion and seeing none, I grabbed my favorite model (and my favorite prop) and headed up town to make some!  Outside of staying up way past our bed time, we really had a lot of fun taking these spicy shots late at night in downtown Redding.  I had no idea there would be such a night-time population.  But, it was Saturday night after all, and well, aren’t we all starving for something?

 What car?

A Mall shot during the demolition work.

Here’s a little variation of the Redding police station.

This is about the best that the downtown mall elevated parking lot ever looked…

Ditto with the California Street Alley way!

All shots were taken with the Mark III using available light, high ISO, long exposures, tungsten WB, tripod-mounted, RAW, and touched up a little in PS-CS3.

We’re definitely doing this again.  Chris

Redding’s Marketfest

•July 21, 2008 • No Comments

Jessica and I go to Redding’s Market Fest about once per season to join the local vendors, party-goers, and music lovers who are braving Redding’s afternoon heat in downtown Redding’s Library Park.  Market Fest is put on by a non-profit organization called Viva Downtown.  It is quite a big event, and as usual, Jessica found just the perfect piece of local jewelry to complete her collection.  Yea!  I’m so happy she has more jewelry!

Live music was Blues, R&B, and Gospel by Lady Bianca.  This my kinda music!

Check out the concert schedule for the rest of the season.
